Week 2 | 3 Stars of the Week

Off to an excellent start for week two of this season, we recognize three stars of the week, including two players from the University of Alabama’s Women’s hockey team and one athlete from Vanderbilt University.

1st Star: Claire Carson - University of Alabama Women’s: 5 Goals, 3 Assists, 8 points in 2 Games

Our first star, Claire Carson, shares insight into what sparked this breakout performance. “I would say that it was such a successful weekend all around! Having such a positive team atmosphere on and off ice was what really helped throughout both games.”

“I'm really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season goes! Roll tide!” Carson said.

2nd Star: Sammy Lantz - University of Alabama Women’s: 5 Goals, 3 Assists, 8 Points in 2 Games

Our second star, Sammy Lantz, shares what has motivated her to begin the season. “Having a team in its first year really gives you the opportunity to set the tone. I know that myself and everyone on my team really wanted to go out and put Alabama women’s hockey on the map and I think we did just that.”

Lantz also spoke on the Alabama team atmosphere: “Having a team that’s so supportive and so fun to be on makes me want to work 50 times harder because it’s not just for me, it’s for all of us and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds for us.”

3rd Star: Harrison Parent- Vanderbilt University: 4 Goals, 1 Assist, 5 Points in 2 Games

The third star of the week is Harrison Parent from Vanderbilt University. He believes that his achievements are due to his teammates. “It’s all about playing as a team, no one player can do anything alone and I certainly couldn’t have had the games I did without the help of everyone else,” Parent said.

Congratulations to Claire, Sammy, and Harrison on being our three stars of the week, and on a super start to the 2024-2025 season!
