Savannah Hockey Classic 3rd Place Game: University of Florida (D1) vs Georgia Institute of Technology (D2)
Sleepy start to the third-place game, but the Gators found their gear eventually. Florida piled the shots on Georgia Tech goalie Brandon Germano, who surpassed 70 saves this weekend with the first-period barrage.

Gators grind out Georgia Tech in the final stanza and clinch third place in the 2025 Savannah Hockey Classic. Max Thellab (47) scored in the early minutes of the third, and that’s all Florida needed to cruise to victory.
It’s hard to go any further without recognizing the effort of Brandon Germano. The Georgia Tech goalie made 111 saves in 2 games at the Savannah Hockey Classic. A baffling, dumbfounding number that is hard to fathom, yet Germano hung in until the bitter end.
The Yellow Jackets amped up the defensive effort in game two but still spent the majority of the game in their end. Please, let Brandon have some rest now… please.
Savannah Hockey Classic Championship Game: University of Georgia (D1) vs University of Tennessee (D1)
For the first time ever, Tennessee are champions of the Savannah Hockey Classic! Hockey Top has arrived!
Incredible 1st-period energy in the championship game from Savannah as teams volleyed the momentum back and forth.
Tennessee stormed out to an early 3-0 lead less than five minutes into the game, and it looked like the Ice Vols would run Georgia out of the building. The chances came fast and furious, and the Ice Dawgs finally answered the bell.
James Hedquist (22) led the early charge to get the game back to within reach, and then the Ice Dawgs tied it with two goals in the final minutes of the period. From 3-0 down to a three-all tie in a single period.
A wild and wacky Championship game continued into the second period, where Tennessee seized control… or about as much as you can in this game.
The Ice Vols showed tremendous character and poise to not get rattled by Georgia’s surge. A really complete period that included two goals to restore the multi-goal lead for Hockey Top.
The Ice Vols were the better team throughout the game, and they earned this victory. Their defense was the difference in the later stages, allowing one Georgia goal after the first period. Lincoln Simons was brilliant, stopping 25 of 26 shots after the first period (39 of 43 overall).
Tennessee added three more goals in the third, cruising to an 8-4 victory. For a game featuring the number one and two teams in the College Hockey South standings, Tennessee controlled the play for the majority of the game.
Congratulations to Ice Vols Captain Connor Frazer (14) for being named tournament MVP! Well deserved indeed.
As happy as we were to see the Savannah Hockey Classic finally here, we’re equally sad to see it go. An incredible event run by incredible people who made memories for a lifetime. Thank you to all who participated, watched, or helped make this tournament possible because it is a remarkable scene.
