November 2024 | 3 Stars of the Month


Now that we’ve stuffed ourselves with various entrees and sides, let’s highlight the players that mashed their competition and turned them into complete turkeys! Here are the College Hockey South three stars of November for each division.


 


Women's Division


First Star: Claire Carson - University of Alabama

7 Goals, 5 Assists, 12 Points - 3 Games Played


After an outstanding performance at the Columbus Classic, Claire Carson takes the First Star for the Women’s Division. Carson tallied seven goals and five assists for twelve points in three games. 


Carson’s standout performance came in the Alabama Frozen Tide’s first showing in Columbus, where they beat the Miami Hurricanes 17-4. She led her team to victory that Friday night with three goals and three assists. 


Second Star: Paige Oukes - University of Georgia

14 Goals, 3 Assists, 17 Points - 6 Games Played


The Second Star is Paige Oukes from the University of Georgia (UGA). This Ice Dawg racked up an impressive fourteen goals and three assists through just six games. 


Although the Ice Dawgs did not show their best at the Columbus Classic, Oukes was a bright spot on the team. She was the lone goal-scorer in the Ice Dawgs’ meeting with the South Florida Lady Bulls. Additionally, Oukes earned herself a hat trick in UGA’s final showing at the Classic against the Hurricanes. 


At the Athens Invitational, Oukes was unstoppable, netting nine goals in three games, including four in a win over Georgia Southern.


Third Star: Molly Braga - University of Tampa

10 Goals, 3 Assists, 13 Points - 5 Games Played 


The University of Tampa’s Molly Braga is the Third Star. Across five games played, Braga recorded ten goals and three assists for thirteen points. 


When looking back on her season thus far, Braga is most proud of her team’s effort at the Columbus Classic against Alabama. Braga scored the game's final three goals, including the game-winner, en route to winning tournament MVP.


“Remaining undefeated after the Columbus Classic was an amazing feeling, and it was even better to bring the trophy back to Tampa,” said Braga. 


 


Division 1


First Star: Ryan Testino - University of Georgia

3 Wins, 1.33 Goals Against Average, 0.964 Save Percentage - 3 Games Played


With the help of goaltender Ryan Testino, the Georgia Ice Dawgs went undefeated in November. The only game in which Testino allowed more than one goal against his team came on Nov. 8 at the University of Tampa. 


The Ice Dawgs’ netminder saw 111 shots on goal through three games, only allowing four goals. Despite heavy pressure, Testino earned the title of First Star for performing so highly.


Second Star: Ryan Bailey - University of Georgia

4 Goals, 6 Assists, 10 Points - 3 Games Played


The Division 1 Second Star also hails from the University of Georgia. Ryan Bailey earned four goals and six assists for ten points in three games. 


Bailey was instrumental in Georgia’s 4-1 win over the Tennessee Ice Vols, contributing a goal and two assists.


Third Star: Evan Edwards - University of Florida

3 Goals, 7 Assists, 10 Points - 4 Games Played 


Representing the University of Florida Gators, Evan Edwards is the Third Star. The Gator played four games, in which he tallied three goals and seven assists. 


Edwards helped catapult the Gators to a 16-3 victory over the Florida Southern Moccasins, contributing two goals and three assists. In the Gators’ other victory over the Moccasins, Edwards earned one goal and two assists.


 


Division 2


First Star: Brendan Ogle - Middle Tennessee State University

8 Goals, 10 Assists, 18 Points - 6 Games Played


Brendan Ogle of Middle Tennessee (MTSU) is the D2 First Star. Through six games played, Ogle recorded eight goals and ten assists for eighteen points. 


The MTSU Blue Raiders went undefeated last month, with Ogle leading his team in points. Ogle shined in the series against Lynn University, posting four goals and five assists in two games. 


Second Star: Matthew Siciliano - Middle Tennessee State University

12 Goals, 5 Assists, 17 Points - 6 Games Played


MTSU’s Matthew Siciliano is the Second Star, registering twelve goals and five assists through six games. Just one point shy of teammate Brendan Ogle, Siciliano was a force for the Blue Raiders in November. 


Siciliano’s strongest showing was against the University of Alabama in Huntsville, in which he contributed four goals and one assist to the Blue Raiders’ 8-1 win. 


Thus far, Siciliano has been proud of the team’s potent power play and defensive ability to close out games. In the latter half of the season, MTSU will focus on consistency and keeping its foot on the gas.


Atop the team’s priority list is making a name for the program, and thanks to the efforts of Ogle and Siciliano, they are doing just that. 


Third Star: Brady Baehser - Florida Atlantic University

5 Goals, 8 Assists, 13 Points - 5 Games Played 


Brady Baehser of Florida Atlantic University (FAU) rounds out the Division 2 Stars. With five goals and eight assists through five games, Baehser was a force for the Owls in November. 


Baehser helped the Owls defeat the Tampa Spartans (D2) with four assists in the teams’ first meeting. Baehser had a goal and assist against the Spartans during the second meeting to seal the series. 


 


Division 3


First Star: Ayden Georgiano - Florida Atlantic University

17 Goals, 12 Assists, 29 Points - 6 Games Played


Ayden Georgiano of FAU is the undisputed Division 3 First Star. The Owl was a scoring machine in November. He began his campaign strong, racking up an impressive six goals and a single assist against Embry-Riddle. 


Continuing his dominance on the ice, Georgiano collected another six goals and five assists in two games against the University of North Florida (UNF). Through six games, Georgiano’s grand total is twenty-nine points. 


Second Star: Joseph Lozoraitis - Florida Atlantic University

6 Goals, 12 Assists, 18 Points - 4 Games Played


Staying in South Florida, the Second Star is FAU’s Joseph Lozoraitis. Although he only played four games, Lozoraitis earned six goals and twelve assists. 


In the Owls’ 16-3 victory over UNF, Lozoraitis lit the scoreboard twice and assisted on four other goals. Lozoraitis continued his scoring spree with two goals and five assists in a 15-2 victory against the Florida Tech Panthers. 


Third Star: Sebastian Zamborsky - Kennesaw State University

10 Goals, 7 Assists, 17 Points - 5 Games Played


Sebastian Zamborsky of Kennesaw State University (KSU) is the Third Star. The KSU skater netted ten goals and seven assists in five games in November. 


Zamborsky was a force against the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In KSU’s 14-0 shutout of the Blazers, Zamborsky found the back of the net four times. In the following 18-1 defeat of UAB, Zamborsky added three goals and three assists to the scoreboard. 


When asked how he hopes to continue leading his team to victory, Zamborsky said, “There is no ‘I’ in team. If the team is successful as a whole, then individual success will come.” The men at KSU all believe in one another, show up to every practice and treat it as a game, and pride themselves on having a team mentality.
