Only one week remains for teams to punch their tickets to Jacksonville. Let’s take a look at where College Hockey South teams stand in this week’s national rankings.
College Hockey South Division 1 Teams
The Georgia Ice Dawgs are riding high after a strong regular season, finishing with just one loss in regulation. They’ve earned the top seed in the conference tournament, which will be held in Athens, GA, and have reclaimed the #1 spot in AAU College Hockey.
Tennessee, on the other hand, dropped behind South Carolina after a tough weekend. While the Ice Vols won both games to Division 2 Georgia Tech, each game was decided by just one goal, one of which was won in overtime. This is significant because in Georgia Tech’s first four matchups against Division 1 teams, they were outscored 30-9.
Looking ahead, the College Hockey South playoffs are next, with the Tampa Spartans claiming the title the past two years. We’re about to see if there will be a new champion or a shake-up in the rankings.

Florida Atlantic made the trip north to face off against Middle Tennessee State in a highly anticipated top-10 showdown and came away with a pair of wins, propelling them to the #1 spot in the rankings, overtaking Bishop’s University.
For Middle Tennessee State, it’s been a tough stretch, with four losses in their last six games, leading to another drop in the rankings for the second consecutive week. The Blue Raiders swapped spots with the South Florida Bulls, who didn’t play last weekend.
The rankings cutoff has shifted from 5 games played to 10 games played, which has bumped Clemson out of the rankings after they finally broke into the top 10 last week at #8. With a crucial matchup against Vanderbilt this weekend, there's a chance we could see Clemson make a return to the rankings in the final update of the season.

College Hockey South Division 3 Teams
Florida Atlantic made its way back into the Nationals field this week after a sweep of the Florida Gators. The Owls now join South Carolina and Tennessee as the only College Hockey South teams in the top 12.
Speaking of South Carolina and Tennessee, the Gamecocks traveled to Knoxville and took down Hockey Top in a showdown between Division 3’s top teams. South Carolina dominated with 3-2 and 4-0 wins, jumping up to the third spot, while Tennessee holds steady at number eight.
More College Hockey South teams, like Georgia and Florida State, are inching their way up the rankings, but with the season winding down, the clock is ticking for them to make a big push.
