1st Star: Ayden Georgiano - Florida Atlantic University (D3): 6 goals, 5 assists, 11 points in 2 games
In a two-day series, the Florida Atlantic Owls competed against the University of North Florida Ospreys at the Boca Ice Rink.
The Owls dominated on the ice for both home games with a complete sweep, lighting up the scoreboard 16-1 on Friday and 16-3 on Saturday.
“My line and team played great. [I] couldn't do it without them,” Georgiano said.
North Florida fought hard, but ultimately, right-wing Georgiano led his team to victory with an outstanding performance of six goals, five assists, and 11 points over the weekend.
This is the second straight week that Georgiano has been named College Hockey South’s first star of the week.
“I am very honored to receive it again,” Georgiano said.
2nd Star: Brendan Ogle - Middle Tennessee State University (D2): 4 goals, 5 assists, 9 points in 2 games
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) battled against Lynn University at Ford Ice Center Antioch South Rink this weekend.
The Blue Raiders conquered the Lynn University Fighting Knights in an impressive two-day series, beating them 10-3 at the game on Friday and 9-7 at the game on Saturday.
Middle Tennessee State picked up their ninth and tenth straight wins against Lynn, topping the Division 2 North Division.
Ogle scored three goals in the first game and one in the second game. In total, he scored four goals, five assists, and nine points in two games,
Also named star of the week for a second time, Ogle’s hard work does not go unnoticed.
3rd Star: Paige Oukes - University of Georgia (WM): 9 goals, 1 assist, 10 points in 3 games
The Georgia Lady Ice Dawgs competed in the Athens Invitational against a trio of teams, winning twice.
Leading her team, center Oukes scored four goals against Georgia Southern, two of them unassisted. In the second game against the Ice Bulls, she scored two unassisted goals. In her third game, Oukes brought the thunder against the Ice Vols, scoring three more goals, also unassisted.
Oukes collected 10 points for her team including a hefty nine goals and one assist in the three games.
When asked what led to Georgia’s success over the weekend, Oukes referred to the Lady Ice Dawgs' time off from their last game, allowing them to practice together as a team.
“Our communication and positioning improved since we last played which set us up for success. Overall it was a great weekend and a lot of fun and we are looking forward to the Columbus Classic this weekend!” Oukes said.
