1st Star: David McDonald, Eastern Kentucky University (ACDC) - 7 Goals, 3 Assists, 10 Points in 2 GP

After a shaky start to Eastern Kentucky’s 2025 campaign, the Colonels looked to use their weekend as a bounce-back against AAU D3 Alabama-Birmingham. EKU got its first weekend sweep of the season with two wins against UAB and outscored them 14-3.

Over two games, seven of the Colonel’s 14 goals came from David McDonald. The offensive explosion from the forward earned him 10 points over the weekend. McDonald also tallied one power-play goal for himself.

EKU will look to make a stamp in its series next weekend against Tennessee (M3).

2nd Star: Brayden Curry, Florida Tech (ACDC) - 5 Goals, 3 Assists, 8 Points in 2 GP

This week's second star goes to Florida Tech’s Brayden Curry, who scored five goals and added three assists this weekend. Curry led the team on their 3rd consecutive winning weekend in points as well.

Curry opened the second period of their second matchup against USF with back-to-back goals and an assist. In addition, he did the same thing in Friday night's contest with back-to-back goals late in the third period. Curry also contributed with three assists spread out across the weekend. He’s been a crucial part of the Panthers this season and their red-hot start, as they currently lead the CHS ACDC division with 10 points.

Florida Tech has not lost since September 20th against Jacksonville and has outscored opponents 35-23. They will be put to the test this upcoming weekend in the Battle at the Beach tournament.

3rd Star: Averi Zhong, Auburn University (W) - 5 Goals, 2 Assists, 7 Points in 1 GP

Auburn's Averi Zhong rounds out our third star of the week. Zhong ended her night with five goals, two assists and an 8-1 win against Tennessee. Zhong and the rest of Auburn continue to stay at the top of the CHS women's division standings after a weekend sweep against the Tennessee Lady Ice Vols.

Zhong opened her night with a hat trick, scoring twice in the first period and once in the second. In addition, she notched two assists and a third goal in the second as well. Zhong’s performance led to the Tigers outscoring the Lady Ice Vols 14-2 over the weekend.

It’s a short week for Averi and the rest of Auburn women's hockey as they take the trip to Athens this weekend to face Georgia for a two-game series.

Congratulations to David McDonald, Brayden Curry, and Averi Zhong for earning honors as College Hockey South’s three stars of Week 6!
