A new week of CHS means a new list of top players in the league! Week 15 saw standouts across several divisions, shutouts, and a double hat trick – here’s who stood out.
1st Star - Chris Scott, Kennesaw State University (M3): 7 Goals, 2 Assists, 9 Points in 2 Games Played
The Kennesaw State Owls had a goal-filled weekend with their series against Austin Peay. Across two games, the Owls outscored the Governors 34-2, only allowing one goal against for each game.
Our first star, Chris Scott, led the team in goals scored during game one, with an impressive double hat trick. Scott scored a consistent 2 goals per period as well as 2 assists to claim a hand in a quarter of Kennesaw’s 22 goals. In game two, Scott opened up scoring in the first, bringing his total to 7 goals across the weekend.
Chris Scott and Kennesaw State University will look to ride the high of the weekend as they face Georgia Tech (M2) on the road January 23 and 24.
2nd Star - Jackson Nieuwendyk, Florida Atlantic University (M2): 5 Goals, 2 Assists, 7 Points in 2 Games Played
Our second star honors are staying in Boca Raton for the second week, with Florida Atlantic’s Jackson Nieuwendyk claiming the spot in Week 15.
The Owls faced USF twice over the weekend, being outscored 4-6 in game one but coming back to secure a victory in game two. Forward Nieuwendyk had a consistent performance, earning himself a hat trick and an assist in game one, followed by another two goals and one assist in game two, which paved the way for a 4-3 victory for FAU.
Even with the game one loss, Nieuwendyk proved himself as offensively valuable and the Owls should look to utilize him as they hit the road for a three-game series against Farmingdale State (M2).
