A first-time team, a fantastic freshman and a familiar face make up the 3 stars for Week 11. Let’s see how each earned their spot!
1st Star: Nathan Walker, Florida Gulf Coast University (M3) - 5 Goals, 5 Assists, 10 Points in 2 Games Played
The Eagles have built their success in their first year in College Hockey South with solid defense and balanced scoring. But Nathan Walker broke that mold this weekend, tallying 10 points in two games against Notre Dame.
Walker’s highlight performance came on Saturday, when the forward had a hand in six straight FGCU goals, including scoring four times.
2nd Star: Joie Burns, University of Tampa (W) - 7 Goals, 2 Assists, 9 Points in 1 Game Played
Much like the M3 FGCU squad, the juggernaut Tampa Lady Spartans score by committee, which has proved key to their uber-successful run in College Hockey South.
However, first-year player Joie Burns delivered a dominant display against Miami, scoring seven goals to lift Tampa to an 18-0 victory. Burns nearly doubled her season total in points (10) in one game, earning her our second star of the week.
3rd Star: Will Van Sicklin, Clemson University (M3) - 6 Goals, 1 Assist, 7 Points in 2 Games Played
The Division 3 second star of October continued his tremendous season, with a pair of hat tricks over the weekend.
Will Van Sicklin was a dominant force in the Game of the Week on Friday night, scoring three times and setting up another Clemson goal en route to a 7-1 win. The senior sniper collected another hat trick on Saturday to cap off an electric weekend.
Van Sicklin’s production will be key for the Tigers going forward, as they climb over .500 for the first time this season.
Congratulations to Nathan Walker, Joie Burns and Will Van Sicklin for earning honors as College Hockey South’s Three Stars of Week 11!
