The 2025-2026 College Hockey South season is officially underway with both men’s and women’s teams completing their first competitions for the season!
The University of Florida started its season hot, with both its Division II and ACDC (American Collegiate Developmental Conference) teams winning both their games. But the Clemson Women’s Hockey Team had the best weekend, with two wins by a double-digit margin (13-0, 15-1) and the third coming in the fashion of a 9-0 shutout.
With the season just beginning, we noticed three players who stood out and made a statement in their first week.
1st Star: (F) Nina Molina, Clemson University (Women’s): 9 Goals, 12 Assists, 21 Points in 3 Games Played
With 37 total goals scored by the debuting Clemson Tigers over the weekend, nearly a quarter of them were scored by our first star, Nina Molina, and she had a hand in 21 of them.
Molina showed up and showed out, with four goals in two periods during the third matchup between the two teams. She also found her way onto the score sheet, assisting on a third of the team’s goals.
She will be a player to watch as the season continues, and will undoubtedly remain one of Clemson’s top producers up front.
2nd Star: (G) Bella Quick, Clemson University (Women’s): 3-0-0, 0.333 GAA, 2 Shut Outs, 0.933 SV%
Our second star of the week goes to the Tigers’ standout in the crease, Bella Quick, who boasted a 0.933 save percentage, blocking 14 of the 15 shots she faced over three games.
Quick’s reliability between the pipes led the Tigers to their sweep of the Tennessee Lady Vols in the opening weekend slate. After relinquishing one goal in the second of three, Quick held a shutout for the final 116 minutes of competition.
Her performance in net lends itself to what may be a stellar season, and the eye will undoubtedly be on the Tiger netminder as the season progresses.
3rd Star: (D) Noah Horwitz, University of Florida (M2): 1 Goal, 3 Assists, 4 Points in 2 Games Played
Our third star of Week 1 goes to junior defenseman Noah Horwitz of the University of Florida. Horwitz found himself on the scoresheet with four points, over his team's two wins, banking a goal and three assists in that span.
The blue liner brought his team to a 6-0 lead with his goal, only 49 seconds into the third period of UF’s first game of the weekend, after already tallying a primary assist early in the second. Horwitz also assisted on UF’s power play goal halfway through the first frame of their second competition.
Horwitz’s four points over the weekend led UF to two wins (7-1, 6-3) versus the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
Congratulations to Nina Molina, Bella Quick, and Noah Horwitz for earning honors as College Hockey South’s three stars of Week 1!
