BATTLE AT THE BEACH
College Hockey South (CHS) is proud to announce the newest annual tournament coming to the state of Florida, Battle at the Beach. Battle at the Beach will take place November 3-4, 2023 in Tampa, Florida at the AdventHealth Center Ice.
"We are very excited to start the Battle at the Beach Tournament in Tampa, Florida," CHS Commissioner Kyle Knell said. "The Savannah Hockey Classic in Savannah, Georgia has been going since 1999 and it's been very successful and a huge hit. We want to replicate that style of an event and excitement in Florida."
The 4 teams participating in the 2023 Battle at the Beach Tournament are: Florida Atlantic University, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida and University of Tampa (D2).
"While this will be the first year for this tournament and the season hasn't even started yet, all four teams are eager for this weekend. Teams will have specialty jerseys and, who knows, maybe even the referees will be wearing something special. We expect to have a great turnout for the event," said Knell.

Friday, November 3, 2023
Florida Atlantic University vs. University of Tampa D2 - 5:30 p.m. EST
University of South Florida vs. University of Central Florida - 8:30 p.m. EST
Saturday, November 4, 2023
3rd Place Game (2 losers from Friday night) - 4:00 p.m. EST
Championship Game (2 winners from Friday night) - 7:00 p.m. EST
"We'll be doing something a little different for this annual tournament. In most tournaments, the 3rd place game is always treated as a throw away game. Both teams have lost their first game and don't really have anything to play for. However, not for Battle at the Beach. In order to keep games exciting and have high intensity, the loser of the 3rd place game will be replaced in the tournament the following year. This allows us to keep games competitive and give more teams a shot at the trophy," said Knell.

Tickets can be purchased here, or at the door the weekend of the event. Tournament merchandise can be pre-ordered and picked up as well as purchased at the event. No items will be shipped.
